WYSE Team Wins 5th Consecutive Regional Championship
Congratulations to the students that represented St. Teresa February 1 at the WYSE competition held at Richland Community College. WYSE stands for Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, and is an academic competition sponsored by the University of Illinois, School of Engineering. The St. Teresa students
brought home a regional championship for the 5th straight year and advance to the sectional competition on March 9
held at Eastern Illinois University, We wish the students good luck as they try to improve on their second place finish last year.
Congratulations also to the following individuals: for the subject of biology, Makenzee Velchek 3rd place, Sydney McNamara 2nd place, and Shirley Syed 1st place. For the subject of chemistry, Robert Malkamaki and Lauryn Pugh tied for second place. For the subject of english, Charlie Blackburn 3rd place, Robert Malkamaki and Haley Vemmer tied for 2nd place, and Tegan Lakshmanan 1st place. For the subject of mathematics, Charlie Blackburn, Tegan Lakshmanan, and Kolapo Oladipupo tied for third place. For the subject of physics, Kolapo Oladipupo 2nd place.
Other schools competing in the same division were Warrensburg-Latham (2nd place), Meridian (third place), Decatur Christian, Sangamon Valley, Central A&M, and Aregenta-Oreana
