Hettinger solid for St. Teresa in win

DECATUR — Erin Hettinger doesn’t say a lot. She doesn’t have to.
In her fourth season as St. Teresa’s starting shortstop, Hettinger speaks with the way she plays. In the Bulldogs’ 9-0 win over Athens on Friday, Hettinger went 2-for-3 with a home run, one double and three RBIs. Only one ball was hit to her at short — to lead off the seventh inning — and Hettinger gobbled it up and fired to Sophie Brunner at first for the out.

St. Teresa throws off Warrensburg-Latham with formation change

DECATUR — Chris Kerwood wasn’t sure how his St. Teresa girls soccer team would handle a last-minute formation tweak.
Just ahead of Tuesday’s St. Teresa Invitational quarterfinal against Warrensburg-Latham, the Bulldogs coach decided to switch to a more defensive formation to the reluctance of his players.
