Born to run: St. T’s Joyner finding his groove

The only person to stop Shevonte Joyner this year was Shevonte Joyner.

A senior running back at St. Teresa, Joyner fumbled the first time he touched the ball this season, and followed that by muffing a punt.

Joyner was nervous. He hadn’t played under the lights in two years, was coming off a serious knee injury, playing for a new team and in a hostile environment. After getting gang-tackled on an early carry, a Central A&M fan yelled, “Welcome to the Okaw.”  Read the rest here

I have a story on St. Teresa running back Shevonte Joyner running in Friday’s paper, but I couldn’t fit all the good stuff in the piece. So here are some tidbits.

– One of the questions people are always asking about Joyner is why he’s not getting more carries. He got 15 last week against Warrensburg, but just 14 combined against Central A&M and Argenta.
