DECATUR – Mount Pulaski had the height and then some to match St. Teresa’s
6-foot-3 center Alex Tueth.
But that’s pretty much all the Toppers could match in the Bulldogs 63-33 win in the first game of the St. Teresa TeamSoy Holiday Tournament on Wednesday.
“Alex has a great motor,” St. Teresa coach Tom Noonan said. “There aren’t a lot of guys in the area who can keep up with him and his consistency.”
Tueth scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds (six of which were offensive) while being double-teamed for most of the night.
“He just did a good job of sealing and knowing where to cut and flash and get himself in to great position,” Mount Pulaski coach Ryan Deibert said of Tueth. “All year we’ve had a pretty good post game. And tonight is really the first time all year that I can really single out us getting beat down there.”
