It is our goal to educate the St. Teresa community to lead others, and ourselves, in a more virtuous life. We are following a "virtue of the week" program to help us refocus on this mission, and to be better examples to others in our community.

Every Monday we will share the "virtue of the week" and ask that you join us in reflecting and implementing it into your daily lives. Learning to Lead

Testimonial – John Althoff (Lifetime Bulldog)

What is St. Teresa?  Simply put, St. T is “THE BEST”!  It doesn’t matter how you look at it…from an academic or athletic standpoint, St. Teresa rises to the top.

When you look at academics, each year St. Teresa leads the pack in categories such as ACT scores, graduation rates, and student to teacher class room ratio.  From an athletic standpoint, just take a look at the trophy cases in the north wing of the school building.  The Bulldogs excel year in and year out in all sports.  To top it all off, St. Teresa students learn in a safe Christian based atmosphere conducive to achievement excellence in the classroom and on their respective playing surfaces.

I’ve had the great fortune to witness the excellence of St. Teresa from many different viewpoints.  As a young grade school kid, I couldn’t wait for Fall Friday nights to go watch my older brothers play football at St. T.  As a St. Teresa student/athlete, I personally found out what it meant to be a Bulldog.  I’ve seen numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces graduate from St. Teresa.  However, even though I had been around St. Teresa most of my life, I didn’t come to realize just how special a place it was until my youngest son Patrick decided to transfer to St. Teresa before his junior year.

On the second day of his junior year, he suffered a major knee injury at school that required two screws to be inserted into his bone and 29 staples to close.  My wife and I wondered if we had made the right move to transfer to St. Teresa.  We soon found out what makes St. Teresa special.  As Patrick lay in the hospital bed the first night, we were overwhelmed with text messages, phone calls and visits from friends, family, coaches, teachers, and St. T parents.  Father Nick came in and said that the entire school would keep Patrick in their prayers.  Over the course of the next several weeks, the thoughts, prayers, visits, and love continued to pour out from many different people.

However, there was one text message that Patrick received the first night in the hospital that I will always remember.  Three senior boys basketball players asked if they could come and visit.  Patrick’s response was that they didn’t need to do that.  Their response was:  “You don’t understand, you are part of the family now bro!”

That’s it…that is the St. Teresa difference when it comes to all other high schools.  St. Teresa is THE BEST because it is truly FAMILY!!!
