Camila Dayson flashed St. Teresa track coach Todd Vohland a grin that said, “I told you so.”
The Bulldogs junior had just crossed the 200 dash finish line in first place at the Macon County Meet in Assumption last Tuesday. And her time of 25.64 came at a record pace, breaking St. Teresa’s previous mark and setting the area’s best time of the season as of today.
It was a stellar performance that evoked the kind of track season Dayson has been delivering.
“It’s been fantastic,” said the multi-talented athlete, who has established herself one of the area’s elite sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers. “I couldn’t ask for a better season so far.”
And it will continue to be as long as she keeps up with her own high standards in the 200.
“Running-wise, I love the 200,” Dayson said. “My freshman year, I came in wanting to run that first and foremost.”
But the 200 had always been a point of contention between Dayson and Vohland.
