On Wednesday, September 27 St. Teresa High School will once again be teaming up with Hickory Point Bank on the WSOY Community Food Drive for the 2nd Annual Decatur Can-Do Sculpture from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m in Central Park.
Last year, the event collected over 2,400 cans of food for this event. Students of St. Teresa High School and members of the Hickory Point Bank team spent the day receiving cans and arranging them into a three-dimensional sculpture.
This year, we will be creating two sculptures. The first will be an American flag and the other will be a retro video game inspired cube with iconic imagery from the 80’s and 90’s. In order to construct, we need the following types and amount of canned foods:
Starkist Tuna ( 5oz.) – 234
Campbell’s Tomato Soup (10.75 oz.) – 658
Sculpture 2: (Any brand of standard sized cans between 14-16oz)
144 – Red
38 – Blue
66 – Yellow
128 – Green
36 – Orange
351 – Black
153 – White
If you would like to contribute, canned goods and money will be accepted at St. Teresa High School and all local Hickory Point Branches. We need cans of certain colors and sizes to make the designs but all cans will be accepted and ultimately donated. All cans will count towards the school competition of the WSOY Food Drive with the 1st place prize being $2,500.
Thank you so much for your support. Plan on tuning in to WSOY 1340AM/103.3fFM to hear the broadcast and follow St. Teresa High School on Facebook for the final outcomes of the sculptures.
