Small bands come together to create big sound

DECATUR — “The William Tell Overture” is supposed to evoke the image of a galloping horse. It requires very precise musicianship.

“It’s all about the tongue,” said Julie Reynolds, band director for Our Lady of Lourdes School, as she coached the flutes through their parts at the St. Teresa High School Band Festival on Monday. “Imagine the Lone Ranger riding his horse. Raise your hand if you know who the Lone Ranger is.”
