Macon County Volleyball Awards

First Team (L) – Shae Genenbacher
Team captain Genenbacher anchored the Bulldogs defense. The libero got plays successfully into motion, recording 484 digs — a school record. Coach Karen Wooden said she was impressed with her libero’s communication on the floor, directing St. Teresa to counter the opposing team’s offense.
First Team (OH) – Marie Less
Less improved upon her 2011 Player of the Year numbers by 114 kills and 152 digs. That’s more than most players have in a season. The Bulldogs junior also worked her way into the IHSA record books with a 31-kill performance against Downs Tri-Valley in the Sectional Finals, the ninth-most kills in the postseason.
First Team (S) – Courtney Huck
Huck was the fuel to Less and the Bulldogs’ offensive devastation, putting up 770 of St. Teresa’s 860 assists. The senior was also tremendous on defense, and her play at the serving line rounded out a complete package. She only had 32 aces, but had a 96.3 serve percentage on more than 400 serves.
Second Team (MH) – Amber Grubbs
Macon County Player of the Year – Marie Less
Marie Less focused on improving her defensive game but even as her digs rose, her kills did as well, earning her a second-consecutive nod as the H&R’s pick for Macon County Player of the Year.
