Location
The St. Teresa High School
Library
is located on the third floor of the older building. It is
a
large room that houses a second school computer lab with 24 student-use
computers as well as a book collection and periodical
holdings. With both electronic and print sources integrated
in the library, it is an ideal place for doing research and writing.
Hours
The library normally opens at
7:30 a.m. Hours are sometimes extended in support of class
projects.
Resources
Books
- About 5,000 reference and circulating books.
- Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Access through interlibrary loan to books from over
140 libraries in Rolling Prairie Library System’s online catalog and
from 80 academic
libraries in I-Share.
Periodicals:
Subscriptions
to 6-10 periodicals for browsing and leisure reading.
SIRS
Researcher full-text article database on social issues available on the
St. Teresa Local Area Network.
First
Search indexes with many full-text articles available via
the Internet.
Library
has automated system for ordering photocopies of periodical articles,
usually free of charge, from other
libraries.
Online Catalogs:
- St. Teresa’s holdings are included in the Rolling
Prairie Library System’s online catalog. The new Web-based
version of the catalog, which highlights holdings of the St. Teresa
library, can be reached from all the school computers and from home.
- I-Share is also available from any computer with
internet access. This allows searching of all the major academic
libraries in Illinois.

<> SIRS Researcher, a CD-ROM database of full-text
magazine and newspaper articles selected especially for
senior-high-school students.> - Access to 16 First Search
databases—including periodical indexes, full-text of periodicals, and

- Access via the Internet to databases and resources
including NewsIllinois, American National Biography, AccessScience,
NoveList, and Physicians’ Desk Reference.

- 24 multimedia, Internet-enabled computers, allowing
a full class
to write or do research.
- Microsoft Office 2003—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Access—as well as Microsoft Works.
- Access to Pagemaker, Microsoft Publisher, and Print
Shop.
- Color printing, photocopying, and scanning ($0.25
per page).
- Free laser printing (reasonable amounts) and
photocopying (small amounts).
