From The Herald & Review:
Freshman Ashlee Knapik’s first ever high school start was a memorable one.
Knapik (1-0) hurled a no-hitter to lead St. Teresa (8-7) to a 15-1 five-inning victory against Champaign Central on Friday.
She struck out nine batters and walked three. Her only run allowed was unearned in the first inning.
“She was quite successful in her opening start,”St. Teresa coach Jim Riebock said. “Champaign Central’s very down, and we moved people around to compensate. We had some people at different spots and had some fun.”
Knapik also drove in a run and was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Bulldogs. Caroline Forster finished the game 2-for-2 while Paz went 2-for-4 at the plate.
