It is our goal to educate the St. Teresa community to lead others, and ourselves, in a more virtuous life. We are following a "virtue of the week" program to help us refocus on this mission, and to be better examples to others in our community.

Every Monday we will share the "virtue of the week" and ask that you join us in reflecting and implementing it into your daily lives. Learning to Lead

Alumni News: Two Honored by Quincy University Athletic Hall of Fame

Congratulations to 1953 St. Teresa graduates Dick Overheul and Sidney Tucker who have been announced as part of the Quincy University Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2017. The pair of Bulldogs were part of the 1954-55 basketball team that will be inducted as a team along with former women’s soccer coach Bill Postiglione. The team and Mr. Postiglione will be inducted to the hall of fame at an honorary breakfast February 18th. The Quincy Hawks have a game later in the day and the inductees will also be honored at halftime.

The 1954-55 team was the first QU team to qualify for a national tournament and had the highest winning percentage in team history at the time. The racially mixed team┬ádealt with adversity at a time when racism was prevalent. They were able to find success despite hearing taunts from the crowd, facing prejudiced referees, and even being denied service at restaurants. Coach Postiglione was also a pioneer in helping form and coach the women’s soccer program and team.

Quincy University will release additional information about the induction ceremony but you can read about all of the inductees, including the St. Teresa grads from the Herald-Whig.
