ART
Art Appreciation
This class
will study various topics in art history and the trends of different time
periods. Students will learn basics of drawing which include the
study of line, form, space, composition, and value. Students will
also learn to use various mediums such as pen and ink, color pencil, pastels,
and watercolor. The subject matter will include still life arrangements
and other matter.
Art I
A beginning
course designed to explore a variety of art projects and media. Major
emphasis will be on drawing and design concepts. A semester project
will be required as a semester exam. A sketch is due each week.
Art Portfolio Prep
This class is designed strictly
for those students in grades 11 and 12 who are interested in the art field
as a career. The class will emphasize skills necessary for the development
of a portfolio used in applying for art programs in college and scholarships.
Students will also prepare artwork for mounting and assist in display work.
This course will also emphasize presentation skills, scholarship application,
and improvement of existing art skills.
3-D Art I & II
This class
is designed to let each student develop skills with clay, including problems
in ceramic design and construction. This will include glaze preparation,
clay body preparation, and kiln firing and techniques. Students will
be using various materials other than clay to develop and learn various
3-D concepts. Students will also learn to develop their own individual
style through the study of the history of pottery and ceramics.
